1. Acceptance and when these terms apply

These Teacher Terms apply when you apply to join MusoHunt and, if your application is approved, while you provide music-teaching services to students introduced or administered through MusoHunt.

By ticking the acceptance checkbox and submitting your application, you confirm that:

  • you are at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement;
  • you have read and agree to these Teacher Terms and the MusoHunt Privacy Policy;
  • the information and documents you provide are accurate, current and not misleading; and
  • you understand that submitting an application does not guarantee approval, enquiries, students, lessons or income.

If MusoHunt approves your application, these terms govern your engagement from the date MusoHunt activates you as an approved teacher. MusoHunt will provide an Internal Portal account to every successfully approved teacher, whether or not the teacher has yet received a student.

2. Approval and ongoing eligibility

Before activation or public listing, MusoHunt may require evidence of your:

  • identity and right to work in Australia, where applicable;
  • music qualifications, professional experience and public credentials;
  • current Working with Children Check or equivalent where required;
  • legal supplier name, Australian Business Number, GST registration status and payment details;
  • subjects, lesson modes, service locations, availability, student ages and levels, and rates;
  • biography, profile photograph and permission to publish them; and
  • licences, registrations, insurance or safeguarding evidence reasonably relevant to your services.

You must promptly tell MusoHunt if any supplied information expires, is suspended, changes or becomes inaccurate. MusoHunt may delay activation, public listing, referrals or payments while required information is incomplete or being verified.

3. Independent contractor relationship

If approved, you provide teaching services as an independent contractor, subject to applicable law. You control your professional teaching method, pedagogy, preparation and materials, while complying with the agreed service, student-safety obligations, applicable law and MusoHunt’s reasonable marketplace standards.

You are responsible for your own taxation, registrations, expenses, equipment and insurance except where the law requires otherwise. These labels do not override applicable law, and nothing in these terms excludes any employment, superannuation, workers-compensation or other statutory right or obligation that legally applies.

You must not represent that you can bind MusoHunt, incur liabilities for MusoHunt or speak on MusoHunt’s behalf unless authorised in writing.

4. Enquiries and availability

MusoHunt does not guarantee a minimum number of enquiries, students, lessons, hours or income. You may accept or decline a proposed student before an ongoing arrangement is confirmed.

When MusoHunt assigns a suitable enquiry, you must contact the family or independent student within one business day, or promptly tell MusoHunt that you cannot accept it. MusoHunt may maintain an internal enquiry-routing status separately from your public profile visibility and portal access.

5. Rates and MusoHunt commission

You propose your public lesson rates. MusoHunt must record and confirm the applicable rate before it is quoted or applied to a student.

For a MusoHunt-sourced student, MusoHunt’s administration commission is 18% of the GST-exclusive family lesson fee. Unless MusoHunt agrees otherwise in writing, this commission applies while you continue teaching that MusoHunt-sourced student.

Where the family lesson fee is GST-inclusive:

  • the GST-exclusive lesson value is the family fee divided by 1.1; and
  • your base supplier amount is 82% of that GST-exclusive lesson value.

You must notify MusoHunt before changing a rate. A change applies only after MusoHunt confirms its effective date and any affected student arrangement.

Travel, parking, materials or other charges must be disclosed and agreed before they are quoted or incurred. You must not collect an additional undisclosed amount from a family.

6. ABN, GST and invoices

You must provide your correct legal supplier name and ABN and must promptly notify MusoHunt if your GST registration status changes.

If you are not registered for GST, you must not add GST to a teacher invoice.

If you are registered for GST, you must provide a valid ABN and tax invoice and apply GST only as permitted by law and MusoHunt’s approved invoicing process.

Your GST declaration is used in MusoHunt’s rate and settlement calculator. MusoHunt may hold an invoice while it verifies a mismatch between your declaration, profile, rate configuration and invoice.

7. Scheduling, attendance and cancellations

You and the family agree lesson times directly. You must enter lessons in MusoHunt’s Internal Portal accurately and promptly and mark the correct attendance status after each lesson. Shared lesson notes are optional and may be sent to the student or parent when useful.

MusoHunt’s standard cancellation policy requires at least 24 hours’ notice. A family cancellation with less than 24 hours’ notice, or a no-show, is ordinarily chargeable. A timely family cancellation and a teacher cancellation are not chargeable. This is subject to approved exceptions and rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

A rescheduled lesson is paid once, after the replacement lesson is completed, unless MusoHunt approves another treatment in writing.

8. Family payments and teacher payments

MusoHunt invoices and collects payment from families. You must not request or accept direct payment for MusoHunt-administered lessons unless MusoHunt expressly authorises it in writing.

After each Monday–Sunday period closes, submit one teacher invoice through the Internal Portal for eligible completed or approved payable lessons. Your invoice must show your correct legal supplier name, ABN, invoice number and date, covered period, eligible lesson details and any correctly applicable GST.

MusoHunt reviews teacher invoices on Monday and ordinarily sends approved payments on Tuesday. Payment may be held while MusoHunt resolves a missing, duplicate, inaccurate, disputed or non-compliant item. Bank processing time is outside MusoHunt’s control.

MusoHunt may correct an overpayment, duplicate payment, refund, chargeback or other reconciliation error after providing reasonable details and an opportunity to respond.

9. MusoHunt-sourced students and direct arrangements

You must not solicit or accept a direct arrangement designed to avoid MusoHunt’s commission for a MusoHunt-sourced student. Any continuing-commission or post-termination application of this clause is subject to applicable law and the final professionally reviewed version of these terms.

This clause does not prevent you from teaching students sourced independently of MusoHunt, provided MusoHunt or its confidential information was not used to obtain that relationship.

10. Professional conduct and student safety

You must:

  • provide lessons professionally, punctually, safely and respectfully;
  • maintain appropriate professional boundaries;
  • comply with applicable child-safety and mandatory-reporting obligations;
  • communicate promptly about absences, delays, complaints, safety concerns or circumstances affecting a lesson arrangement;
  • not make false or misleading claims about your qualifications, results, affiliations, availability or experience;
  • not unlawfully discriminate, harass or engage in unsafe or inappropriate conduct; and
  • cooperate reasonably with MusoHunt’s family-support, rematching, complaint and safeguarding processes.

Serious safety, abuse, boundary, privacy or legal concerns must be escalated promptly to MusoHunt and to the appropriate authority where required by law.

11. Portal access, privacy and information security

Your Internal Portal account is personal to you. Keep your credentials confidential, use only your own account, follow reasonable security instructions and promptly report suspected unauthorised access.

Student and family information may be accessed only for providing assigned lessons and related communication. It must not be disclosed, copied, retained or used for unrelated marketing or personal purposes. When access is no longer required, securely delete or return personal information except where lawful retention is required.

Do not photograph, record or publish a student, family member or lesson without appropriate prior consent. Separate written media consent is required for promotional content.

12. Profile content and intellectual property

You retain ownership of original biography, photograph and other profile material you provide, subject to third-party rights.

You grant MusoHunt a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence during your engagement to edit for length, translate, reproduce, publish and promote approved profile material across MusoHunt websites, directories and marketing channels for teacher discovery and marketplace promotion.

You must review your public profile and notify MusoHunt of material inaccuracies. Teaching resources created independently by you remain yours. Materials separately commissioned and paid for by MusoHunt are governed by the applicable written project terms.

13. Insurance, equipment and teaching locations

You are responsible for maintaining insurance reasonably appropriate to your services and required by law, including public-liability and professional-indemnity cover where applicable.

You are responsible for the safety and suitability of your studio, online setup, equipment and materials. For lessons at a family location, report material safety concerns and do not proceed where it would be unsafe.

14. Complaints, suspension and termination

Notify MusoHunt promptly of a material family complaint, payment dispute, safeguarding concern or incident connected with a MusoHunt student. The parties will first attempt to resolve ordinary operational disputes in good faith using relevant portal, communication and payment records.

Either party may end the engagement by giving 14 days’ written notice, subject to safely transitioning confirmed lessons and resolving outstanding invoices and payments.

MusoHunt may immediately suspend portal access, public listing or student assignments where reasonably necessary for safety, privacy, fraud prevention, legal compliance, serious misconduct, expired compliance evidence or protection of families and the platform.

Termination does not affect accrued payment rights, privacy and confidentiality obligations, or any other clause intended to survive termination, subject to applicable law.

15. Changes to these terms

MusoHunt may update these terms. The current version and effective date will be displayed on this page. MusoHunt will provide reasonable notice of material changes and will obtain renewed acceptance where required by law or where the change materially affects teacher commission, payment or obligations.

16. General

If a provision is invalid or unenforceable, it is to be read down where possible without affecting the remaining provisions.

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, subject to any mandatory law that applies elsewhere.
